Job Description
The United Nations is seeking motivated and highly organized Paid Research Interns to support research, data analysis, and knowledge-management activities across its programs and initiatives. The internship provides hands-on experience in international development, policy research, and evidence-based decision-making while contributing to the UN’s mandate and strategic objectives.
Under the supervision of a designated UN staff member, the intern will assist in research activities, documentation, and analytical tasks, gaining practical exposure to UN systems, processes, and professional standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct desk research, literature reviews, and background studies on assigned thematic areas
- Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data
- Assist in drafting research reports, briefs, presentations, and policy notes
- Support monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities
- Maintain databases, reference materials, and research documentation
- Participate in team meetings, seminars, and virtual consultations
- Provide general administrative and research support as required
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in:
- International Relations
- Development Studies
- Economics
- Public Policy / Public Administration
- Social Sciences
- Statistics, Data Science, or related fields
- IT
- Business
- Administration
(Recent graduates must have completed their degree within the last 12 months.)
Experience
- No prior professional work experience is required
- Previous academic research, internships, or volunteer experience is an asset
Skills and Competencies
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic data analysis tools
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality outputs
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
Eligibility & Conditions
- Applicants must meet UN internship eligibility requirements
- Interns will receive a monthly stipend in accordance with UN internship policies
- Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, and accommodation arrangements (if office-based)
- Monthly stipend of 3000$ Monthly will be provided during the internship period.
- Duration is 6 Months Subject to Renew based on Performances.
