Job Description
The United Nations is seeking a qualified Home-Based Consultant to provide specialized technical, analytical, or advisory support to programmatic and operational activities. The consultant will work remotely and collaborate closely with UN staff, partners, and stakeholders to support the achievement of organizational objectives in line with UN mandates, policies, and procedures.
The consultant will be responsible for delivering high-quality outputs within agreed timelines while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to UN standards and ethical principles.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical advice, research, and analysis in the assigned area of specialization
- Develop reports, policy briefs, concept notes, guidelines, and other documentation as required
- Support program planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting activities
- Conduct data collection, assessments, and desk reviews
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with UN teams, partners, and stakeholders remotely
- Participate in virtual meetings, workshops, and consultations as required
- Ensure timely delivery of agreed outputs in accordance with the terms of reference
- Adhere to UN policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Advanced university degree (Bachelors or equivalent) in a relevant field such as:
- International Development
- Public Administration
- Social Sciences
- Economics
- Law
- Management or a related discipline
- Technology
(A first-level university degree combined with additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree.)
Experience
- Minimum of 1–5 years of relevant professional experience in consultancy, research, program support, or advisory roles
- Previous experience working with the United Nations, international organizations, NGOs, Government, Private Sector or development partners is an asset
- Demonstrated experience working independently in a remote or home-based setting
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines independently
- Proficiency in standard office and remote collaboration tools (e.g., MS Office, virtual meeting platforms)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments
Language Requirements
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage

Salary: 96,000$ – 12,000$ Annually
